Our Story

Rachael

I grew up surrounded by family members who loved to bake. From a young age, I could be found right next to my mom or grandma helping create some sort of delicious dish. Some of my earliest memories include memories of my grandma always busy cooking or baking some new recipe and adding or changing the ingredients a little to make the recipe her own. Grandma was known for always having a treat stashed somewhere for when anyone stopped by and would always make sure we didn’t leave her house without a full belly and something yummy in our hands to munch on. Seeing how grandma taught all of her children to cook and how she shared her love for creating things in the kitchen with everyone in her life gave me my love for cooking and baking. Around the holidays, you would always find us in the kitchen helping mom crank out a big batch of cookies or a bunch of pies for gifts, family gatherings, etc. Baking and cooking for people and in turn getting to witness people truly enjoy something you created is something so special!

My love for crocheting and knitting started back when I was a little kid. We had a neighbor, Charlotte, who taught me how to crochet and knit. She was the type of person to knit or crochet while watching a movie and doing it all without barely looking at the project she was making because she was just that good. I was always amazed that she could create such beautiful things! I am so grateful she taught me how to create beautiful crafts with just a set of knitting needles or a crochet hook.

My interest in baking started a little later in life then Rachael. Not long after I graduated from high school, I started working at a family friend’s pizza shop where the dough was made from scratch daily. We would make roughly 25lb batches of dough at a time and I grew to memorize the recipe for the dough and knew exactly how it should feel and know when it is a good batch of dough. When Rachael and I met, I was still working at the pizza shop. If you know me you know I love my terrible dad jokes and so the one time I was talking to Rachael on the phone while making the dough and Rachael asks me “how you doughing?”. I knew right then and there we were meant to be! :) My love for pizza making has continued and to this day Rachael puts me in charge of making the dough every time for pizza and our loaves of bread and says that she can’t compete with the pizza master. Not only did I learn how to make good dough from working at the pizza shop, I also learned how to make pepperoni rolls and will make them for us to enjoy whenever we get the taste for them!
